Matrioshka Russian Restaurant & Reception
1046 Dandenong Rd, Carnegie 3163

Such a wonderful way to celebrate the Orthodox Easter/Paschal season! The RUSICHI Dance Ensemble is hosting this year’s family dinner dance on Friday 20 May, 2016. The aim is to raise much-needed funds to help with costs of future performances, venue hire, costumes, etc. so that everyone can enjoy the pleasure of the Rusichi Dance Ensemble’s performances in the year ahead.

Following on from the success of last year’s Blessings Dinner Dance, we again bring the Russian ethnic community together in an evening of enjoyment for the whole family. This event provides an excellent opportunity for children to show off their talents in music, song and dance – the perfect motivation for all those weekly lessons of learning! The Slavic communities and their children have been invited to join in this intercultural celebration of the blessings of Easter and the blessings that are our children – our very pride and joy.

This is the third family dinner dance and children’s talent event for our community in Melbourne, and we are pleased to see it becoming increasingly more popular. The Matrioshka Russian Restaurant is chosen for its lovely décor, delicious Russian food, convenient location & generous support of this important event. And the name Matrioshka – derived from the Russian word for mother – also symbolises the hope and value of life and the family, which is the heart and soul of the Slavic people. This makes Matrioshka the perfect venue for showing off our children and our different yet similar cultures & traditions.

The Rusichi Dance Ensemble is proud to be part of the whole concept of the Maslenitsa Slavic Pancake Festival – which starts off the preparations leading up to Pascha – and this Dinner Dance, which celebrates Easter having finally arrived. Pascha is the most important Orthodox holiday of the year, and we are pleased to celebrate it with everyone in such an exciting and novel way, involving the whole family.

The evening will begin with guests arriving at 6.30 pm, welcomed by the famous Carousel Russian Folk Band. Everyone can watch with pride and pleasure the children’s talented performances, which will be staged approx 7-7.30 pm. A delicious Russian dinner will be served. Guests’ entries of their favourite cakes in our Best Home-Made Cake Competition will be proudly displayed for judging, after which everyone will be invited to taste the delicious assortment of cakes and tortes. And throughout the evening guests will enjoy wining, dining and dancing to the popular songs and music of Matrioshka’s in-house entertainers, Svetlana & Sasha. There will be free Easter Eggs for the children from the Easter Bunny, prizes for the Best Home-Baked Cakes, a Lottery Raffle – and lots of fun for everyone!
